Founded in 1985 by the original Department of Management in Wuxi University of Light Industry- the school of business was created in 2001, when Wuxi University of Light Industry, Jiangnan School and Wuxi College of Education (formerly the Wuxi area of Donghua University) were consolidated. The school focuses on management and economics, offering five first degree majors: International Business, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting and Industrial Engineering. In addition, there are first level masters’ degree programs of Applied Economics, Business Administration and Management Science and Engineering, as well as Logistics Engineering and MBA. Apart from these masters’ programs, the school also has a second level doctoral degree program of Food Culture and Trade in cooperation with the school of Food Science and Technology. Currently, the school has about 3,204 students, of which over 110 students are from overseas; it has 846 graduate students, 2, 452 undergraduates, approximately 15,000 alumni and the remainder are doctoral students. Implementing its talent strategies, the school of business has 146 full-time faculty members, including 19 professors and 56 associate professors. Among them are three winners of the “New Century Excellent Talents”, two for the Jiangsu Province “333” Talent Project and three for the “Six Talents Summit”.
To continue fostering outstanding, the school pays close attention to its students’ moral education, practical abilities, and the development of their capacity to innovate. There are three provincial enterprise postgraduate work stations: a provincial economic management experimental teaching center, eight high-tech logistics experimental centres and more than 60 teaching and research practice bases. Our students have always been praised in national competitions, such as the Business Plan Competition of “Challenge Cup”. They also stand above their peers in voluntary activities, cultural events and sports events. They are highly regarded by employers.
As part of the open running of the school, we have formed a Board of Directors that consists of well-known scholars, experts and entrepreneurs, who look over educational aspects and are willing to offer opportunities for students to improve their overall skills. Many famous enterprises, such as the Hong Kong LEO Group and Far East Group, have endowed scholarships for deserving students. To accelerate the speed of educational internationalization, the school has worked with universities in Australia and Canada to together instruct international talentsin research. The school has been involved in international exchanges, leading to long-term cooperation with international schools.
Over the past thirty years, the school has made every effort to foster management elite of outstanding talents in economics and management, thereby establishing a leading school that is widely recognized for its research achievements and international standards.
